Upcoming Issues Facing Email Marketers

Watch this video

Just about every web marketer knows that they should create a list of emails to which they can send messages that market their products and their services. Subscriber lists are harped on even more than any other issue in the internet marketing world. Obviously, knowing that you need a list is different than knowing what you are going to do when you have it. How can you make sure the email marketing you do is really effective? We did some homework and these are the top issues that you are likely to encounter as you try to learn how to become successful with email marketing.

Be prepared to get sorted. Nowadays it is common for the majority of email and ISPs to use some very sophisticated techniques to sort incoming emails. Do not ever assume that the emails you mail out will automatically be delivered to one primary email address where someone is going to have to deal with it in some form or fashion. It isn't unheard of anymore for email to automatically get shuffled into a folder where it will be automatically overlooked or deleted by the recipient. Work really hard to help ensure that your recipients will in fact want to see your email. Pay attention to what is trending, what is popular for content, and so forth.

Stay with local, mobile and social. You will serve your recipients better if you prove to them that supporting you is similar to supporting a local company. Internet marketing is trending more toward social and mobile media. Always keep up with that via your emails. This implies that you have to include information that will prove who you are socially to your recipients and that encourages them to connect with you through those profiles as well as helping them understand that you understand how they lead their local lives. This probably sounds really cheesy, but your recipients want to feel like people, not numbers. This is the one best way to do this.

Your social networking accounts and your list should be incorporated. The days when you can gather email addresses just through a central web site have ended. You have to provide the means for those who visit you through social media like Twitter and Facebook are able to sign up for your list. It's also good to learn how to send your emails out to people through their social network profiles--like Facebook inboxes, etc. This will help you get in touch with a lot of people that you might not have ever been able to reach out to previously.

As things continue to keep moving forward the issues you will face as an email marketer will get progressively more complicated. It wasn't all that long ago that all it took was a good subject line to make sure your email was noticed and read. These days your focus should be on everything from your body content to how the email might be sorted. If you can individually cater to your recipients, you ought to do so. It can be tough to figure out what to do when you are a rookie. We are you solid pieces of here, but do be aware that some are more to understanding Just Been Paid. What is more for you may be so for others, so you have to your unique . As you , there is to the story than what is here. have more big pieces of the picture to to you, though. Even what is next, we will not there because the is to come. The good news is that you can use these suggestions to get a good start.

Global Map of Social Networking [INFOGRAPHIC]

Last July, I covered the work of Global Web Index, which offered a quick glimpse of data for global social network usage, which they called Global Web Index LITE.
Today, they shared their latest work with me - an infographic. The Global Map of Social Networking 2011 shows the size of active social networkers for each regional market and then segments them into three behavior types: messagers and mailers, joiners and creators of groups, and content sharers.Global Web Index - legend

Here's the entire graphic as a Slidehshare embed:

You can also download the PDF directly from Global Web Index's website.

The legend that outlines social network penetration by country, enlarged for more clarity:

Global Web Index - legend 2

Are there any surprises for you in here? From the planning that I see many companies doing - not only in their marketing and communications efforts, but in their actual product planning and manufacturing - the BRIC markets (Brazil, Russia, India and China) are essential. That's borne out here as well - although it should be noted that Facebook has very little penetration into Russia and China currently.

To me, it's interesting to look at markets like Mexico, Italy, India, Russia, Malaysia and the Phillipines, where there is a greater percentage of people sharing content rather than those simply sending messages. This means that you need to have a content plan that enables active sharing of content - photos, videos, embeddable documents and slides, etc.

If you're in a global business, how does this infographic make you think about your plans? If you're based in a single market, how do the numbers reflect what you've seen?
